Our Why

Exceed Three, Inc. is a private, 501(c)3 non-profit, professional development program serving pre-baccalaureate, baccalaureate, and post-baccalaureate African American students in Georgia. The focus of Exceed Three, Inc. is to provide mentorship, education, and scholarships to African American students in their pursuit of admittance to physical therapy programs. Per the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), the percentage of African American students admitted to physical therapy programs nationwide has averaged three percent from 2012 to 2020.1 While vested entities, including the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), have expressed interest in increasing the number of diverse applicants to physical therapy programs, this goal only begins to address the disparities that are present. Exceed Three, Inc. will function to increase the quality of the applications submitted by African American students while providing the foundational academic support needed to facilitate students’ success during their tenure in the program of choice.

  • Vision.

Our vision at Exceed Three, Inc. is to grow the profession of physical therapy by increasing the percentage of African Americans enrolled and graduating from physical therapy programs, ultimately, increasing community health and wellness for African Americans across the state of Georgia.

  • Mission.

The mission of Exceed Three, Inc. is to prepare African American students for success throughout their pursuit of physical therapy education and upon entry into clinical practice.
